Due to forecasted high winds for the Strait of Georgia and North Vancouver Island, service on multiple routes may be affected on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.

The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We are continuing to monitor this weather system and will share information as it becomes available.

BC Ferries’ Customer Service Centre hours for the holiday:

  • December 24 – 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • December 25 – 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • December 31 – 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

If you have a booking and your sailing is cancelled due to weather, we will automatically refund your fees and/or fares. Click here for more information about bookings on cancelled sailings. Customers can make changes to their existing booking through bcferries.com or the app.

Service notice - Sailing Cancellation and Risk of Cancellation - Adverse Weather - December 25

To ensure the safety of our customers and crew, the following sailings between Little River (Comox) - Powell River (Westview) must be cancelled for tomorrow, Wednesday, December 25, as a result of Environment Canada’s severe weather forecast for high winds and waves in the Strait of Georgia and North Vancouver Island.

Cancelled Sailings, Wednesday, December 25:
9:55 am departing Little River
11:50 am departing Powell River
3:25 pm departing Little River
5:15 pm departing Powell River

Sailings at Risk of Cancellation:
7:10 pm departing Little River
8:45 pm departing Powell River

If you have a booking on one of these cancelled sailings, you will hear from our Customer Service Centre to let you know if we can fit you on an alternate sailing, or if your booking must be cancelled. We know you have important places to be. We are monitoring the weather conditions with the goal of getting you underway as soon as it’s safe to do so. If conditions do not improve, additional sailings may need to be cancelled and we will let you know if that happens.
