We are actively following a rapidly intensifying storm that is expected to reach parts of British Columbia’s West Coast by Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The adverse weather conditions may impact travel through Wednesday, November 20.

Travellers are advised to check our Service Notices page prior to travel for any possible service disruptions.

Property damage or injury claims

If you experience property damage or injury while travelling with us, advise a BC Ferries employee immediately:
 
  • On board: Contact the Chief Steward or a crew member while onboard the vessel
  • At the terminal: Contact the Customer Service desk or a member of staff before leaving the terminal
We suggest that in all cases of damage to your property, you contact your insurance company to arrange for immediate reimbursement. BC Ferries will not pay for consequential damages, such as loss of enjoyment, loss of business, inconvenience and similar matters that may result from an incident involving damage to your property.

Important:
 
  • You are required to notify BC Ferries within seven days of the incident
  • Baggage claims are excluded from this policy. If you have a baggage claim, visit baggage claims
 

Claims process

If you’ve incurred costs as a result of property damage and/or bodily injury for which you believe BC Ferries may be responsible, please download and complete the appropriate Notice of Claim Form(s) below:

Response time

After receiving your claim, we will investigate and respond within two weeks to discuss next steps.

BC Ferries will only consider your claim if it is determined that BC Ferries is responsible for your property damage or injury.

Our liability to you may be limited or excluded in accordance with our Conditions of Carriage.

If it is determined that you have submitted a fraudulent claim, BC Ferries will pursue any action considered necessary under the law.

BC Ferries is covered by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. This information is collected for follow up on claims management and operational trend analysis and will only be used and disclosed for these purposes.
