Service notice - Tidal Conditions - September - December 2024

Posted:   Thursday, June 06, 2024

Updated: Tuesday, September 10, 2024

Tidal Conditions
Quathiaski Cove (Quadra Island) – Campbell River (Vancouver Island)

September – December 2024

Due to tidal conditions between Quathiaski Cove (Quadra Island) and Campbell River (Vancouver Island), some buses, RV's, low bed vehicles and other vehicles (with very low ground clearance or extended overhangs on the rear axle) may be unable to travel on select sailings from September through December. This is to ensure the safety of the vehicle, the vessel, and the environment during times of extremely low or high tides.

Tides that are below 4 feet or higher than 12 feet change the angle the ferry approaches the loading ramp, and during these times some vehicles are likely to get stuck on the ramp.

To reduce the risk of damage to vehicles, vessels and the environment, crew may ask some vehicles to board at a time when tides allow them to load on and off the vessel safely.

Further information on how tides have an effect on sailing conditions can be found here. You can also check future tidal conditions here

We regret any inconvenience this may cause and thank customers in advance for their cooperation. Our crew will work to get you to your destination as quickly as possible, when it is safe to do so.

For up-to-date sailing and departure information, check Current Conditions, follow @BCFerries on X or phone 1-888-223-3779 for further assistance.
