Sailing Delay
Reposted: 4:24 pm
Our 3:15 pm sailing from Langdale (Sunshine Coast) to Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) departed 42 minutes behind schedule due to accumulated delays from the crew taking extra time to load as many vehicles as possible given today’s heavy volume of traffic.
We expect the 4:20 pm departing Horseshoe Bay and the 5:25 pm departing Langdale sailings to also be delayed. Upon arrival at Horseshoe Bay, the vessel will transition to provide service to Vancouver Island. Due to the delayed arrival, we expect the 6:35 pm sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (Vancouver Island) to depart approximately 45 behind schedule. Please check Current Conditions if you are looking to travel with us today.
If you have a reservation on an upcoming sailing today, please arrive during the check-in window noted in your booking confirmation email to maintain your reserved status. This ensures we can stage your vehicle at the terminal ahead of standby customers and those reserved on later sailings.
For those customers travelling on to Powell River today, this delay is not expected to impact your ability to travel on the Earls Cove (Sechelt) – Saltery Bay (Powell River) route today. For more information on how delays are communicated and handled between routes, please visit: https://www.bcferries.com/travel-boarding/travel-tips#regions under ‘Sunshine Coast.’

Geotechnical Work - Horseshoe Bay Terminal - February to March 2025
Updated: Monday, March 24, 2025
Geotechnical Work
Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) Terminal
February – March 2025
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensure the safe operation of our terminal facilities, we began temporarily rotating one berth closure at our Horseshoe Bay terminal beginning February 24 to conduct geotechnical work in support of future development plans. Work is expected to be completed by the end of March.
The work includes borehole drilling and will continue to take place between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, and overnight between 8:00 pm and 5:30 am. Nearby residents may notice an increase in sound levels during this time; however, our teams will make every effort to minimize noise disruptions.
Customers may experience a slight delay when loading the vessels at Horseshoe Bay due to lane limitations during the ongoing work.
Thank you to our customers and neighbours for your patience and understanding as we complete this necessary project.

Langdale Life Extension - February 10 to May 31, 2025
Updated: Thursday, March 20, 2025
Berth 2 Life Extension
Langdale (Sunshine Coast) Terminal
February 10 to May 31, 2025
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensure the safe operation of our terminal facilities, we started carrying out marine construction activities to Berth 2 at the Langdale terminal. The project began on February 10 and is expected to continue until the end of May.
Construction is planned Monday to Saturday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. A minor portion of the work must be completed during low tides outside regular working hours. Noise levels around the terminal may be more noticeable than normal, and our teams will work to minimize the impact for both our customers and neighbours.
As part of this planned work, from April 14 to 17, a barge will be stationed just east of the waiting room. Divers will be present in the water along with crews working around the terminal. Customers may also notice a temporary colour change in the water as a result of an environmentally friendly dye that is used to aid in quality control. This dye is not harmful to the environment.
We do not expect any impacts to terminal operations and will continue to update this Service Notice should there be any changes to this scheduled project.
Thank you to our customers and neighbours for your patience and understanding as we complete this required work.
For up-to-date sailing and departure information, check Current Conditions, follow @BCFerries on X or phone 1-888-223-3779 for further assistance.
