Horseshoe Bay Sailings

The RBC GranFondo Whistler cycling event from downtown Vancouver to Whistler will take place on Saturday, September 7. Traffic modifications will be in effect for customers travelling through the Horseshoe Bay terminal before 9:30 am on that day.
Customers planning to travel on sailings departing Horseshoe Bay on the morning of Saturday, September 7, please note that Horseshoe Bay traffic will be re-routed to Marine Drive through West Vancouver, from 5:30 am to 9:30 am. During this time, motorists can use the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge. One southbound lane will remain open on the Lions Gate Bridge and causeway. We suggest customers allow enough travel time to arrive at the terminal before the scheduled sailing of their choice.
For customers travelling on sailings that arrive at Horseshoe Bay terminal before 9:30 am on September 7, the eastbound lanes of the Upper Levels Highway will be closed to traffic from Horseshoe Bay to Taylor Way from 5:30 am – 9:30 am. During this time eastbound motorists will be re-directed through West Vancouver along Marine Drive.
These impacts will affect the following sailings:
Trucks disembarking from these sailings that are more than 20 meters in length and 40,000 kg GVW or over, heading eastbound, will be redirected to a temporary storage location at Horseshoe Bay from 5:30 am to 9:30 am. During this period, commercial truck traffic will be restricted from Marine Drive through West Vancouver and will be able to re-enter Highway 1 once the eastbound highway lanes are re-opened. Drivers of these commercial vehicles may wish to consider taking an alternate sailing.

The 2:45 pm sailing from Departure Bay (Nanaimo) to Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) departed 50 minutes behind schedule due to due to earlier berth congestion at the Horseshoe Bay terminal, and the crew taking extra time to load as many vehicles as possible given today’s heavy volume of traffic.
Upon arrival at Horseshoe Bay, the vessel will transition to provide service to Langdale (Sunshine Coast). Due to the delayed arrival at Horseshoe Bay, we expect the 5:30 pm sailing to Langdale to depart approximately 50 minutes behind schedule.
If you have a reservation on an upcoming sailing today, please arrive during the check-in window noted in your booking confirmation email to maintain your reserved status. This ensures we can stage your vehicle at the terminal ahead of standby customers and those reserved on later sailings.
For those customers travelling on to Powell River today, this delay is not expected to impact your ability to travel on the Earls Cove (Sechelt) – Saltery Bay (Powell River) route today.
