Commercial, Livestock, and Bus Terms and Conditions
Commercial and Livestock bookings require a deferred payment to be set up at the time of booking.
The non-authorized resale of a booking/reservation is prohibited unless contracted through BC Ferries.
The following changes are accepted online or by calling the Customer Service Centre up to time sailing is closed for advance sales:
- Change booked sailing time and/or date: you may change your booking up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure.
- Update booking to add feet to vehicle length: this is always subject to availability and can be done up to 2 hours prior to your schedule departure time.
- Change to bus or standard vehicle type: customers must cancel their booking and make a new booking for correct vehicle type.
Changes accepted at terminal on day of departure – on payment of correct Vehicle and Passenger fares
- Arrived early: customers arriving in time for an earlier sailing, on the date they booked to travel, lose their reservation but may travel on the next available sailing, based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Arrived after reservation cut off (as specified on the booking confirmation document): reservation lost, travel on the next available sailing, based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Arrived late (Livestock bookings with vehicle under 5,500 kg): reservation lost, customers who arrive after the sailing has closed for loading, but on the day they booked for travel lose their reservation but may travel on the next available sailing, based on order of arrival at the terminal. Will incur a $25 no-show fee.
- Arrived late (Commercial and Commercial Livestock bookings with vehicle over 5,500 kg): reservation lost, customers who arrive after the sailing has closed for loading, but on the day they booked for travel lose their reservation but may travel on the next available sailing, based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Remove ≤5 ft.: reservation maintained.
- Remove > 5 ft.: reservation lost, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Add ≤5 ft.: reservation maintained.
- Add > 5 ft.: reservation lost, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Attempt to check in with a non-commercial vehicle: reservation lost, travel based on order of arrival.
Cancellation:
Commercial and Livestock customers may cancel their reservation up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure, without any fee. If you do not cancel your booking within this time, and do not show up for your reservation, a $25 no-show fee will be applied to your deferred payment.
Commercial Saver
Commercial travel between Vancouver (Tsawwassen) and Vancouver Island
Commercial Saver Fares are available for semi-trailer, semi-A/B train, straight truck/commercial vehicle and other under the "Over 5,500 kg registered GVW" dropdown on the vehicle details page.
Commercial Saver Fares are not available for buses and vehicles over 9 ft. wide and cannot be redeemed for thru fare travel.
Commercial Saver Fares are available for vehicles transporting livestock if the vehicle is over 5,500 kg GVW.

- Change sailing time four days or more before departure: no change fee
- Change sailing time three days or less before departure (up to two hours before scheduled departure time):
- Commercial Saver booking to another Commercial Saver fare: $25 change fee
- Commercial Saver booking to a Standard fare: $25 change fee, plus pay difference in price at the ticket booth. No deferred payment method allowed. To book with deferred payment, you can cancel your Commercial Saver booking and rebook as a Standard fare.
- Standard fare to a Commercial Saver fare: $25 change fee, plus prepayment for Commercial Saver fare.
- If you book a Commercial Saver and want to change to deferred payment: you can cancel your Commercial Saver booking and rebook with a Standard fare for $25 three days or less before departure (up to 11:59 PM the night before).
- Update booking to add or remove footage to commercial vehicle length: pay or receive refund for any price difference subject to space availability. You can update your booking to add or remove footage up to two hours before departure.
- Change to bus or standard vehicle type: customers must cancel their booking and make a new booking for correct vehicle type.
Changes accepted at terminal on day of departure
- Arrived early or late, or after reservation cut-off: booking will not be honoured, but customers may travel on the next available sailing, based on order of arrival at the terminal. Customer must pay the difference between the Commercial Saver and Standard fare at the ticket booth. Applicable only for the same day, route and direction of travel as booked. No deferred payment method allowed.
- Customer no shows for sailing (booking not redeemed): a $100 no-show fee will apply.
- Remove ≤5 ft.: reservation maintained; no refunds for removing footage at the terminal.*
- Remove > 5 ft.: booking will not be honoured, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal. No refunds for removing footage at the terminal.*
- Add ≤5 ft.: reservation maintained.
- Add > 5 ft.: booking will not be honoured, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Attempt to check in with a non-commercial vehicle: booking will not be honoured, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
* Remove footage in advance of travel to receive a refund for reduced footage as applicable.
Cancellation rules and fees
- Cancel four days or more before departure: receive full refund.
- Cancel three days or less before departure, up to 11:59 PM the day before: $25 cancellation fee.
- Cancel on day of departure: $100 cancellation fee.
Standard
Southern Gulf Islands routes
Standard (Commercial and Livestock) – Southern Gulf Islands Routes
The non-authorized resale of a booking/reservation is prohibited unless contracted through BC Ferries.
The following changes are accepted online or by calling the Customer Service Centre up to time sailing is closed for advance sales):
- Change sailing time: changes to Commercial and Livestock bookings can be made up to 1 hour prior to the original port of departure, with no fee.
- Add passengers: pay for additional passengers.
- Remove passengers: full refund (to original form of payment) of passenger fares paid for those passengers
- Add feet to vehicle length (for private vehicles more than 20 ft. long only): if space is available pay for the additional feet.
- Remove feet: full refund of feet removed to original form of payment.
- Change to a different vehicle type: must cancel your original reservation, and re-book. Any cancellation fees are applicable.
Changes accepted at terminal on day of departure:
- Arrived early: customers arriving in time for an earlier sailing, on the date they booked to travel, may travel on an earlier sailing, based on order of arrival, at the terminal at no additional cost (but will still pay cancellation/change fee for their original booking). Applicable only for the same day, route and direction of travel as booked.
- Arrived after reservation cut-off (as specified on the booking confirmation document): customers who arrive in time for their booked sailing, but have missed the reservation cut-off may travel on the next available sailing based on order of arrival at the terminal, at no extra cost (will still pay change/cancellation fee for their original booking). Applicable only for the same day, route and direction of travel as booked.
- Arrived late: customers arriving after the sailing has closed for loading, but on the day they booked for travel, may travel on the next available sailing based on order of arrival at the terminal, at no additional cost (dependent on space availability). Applicable only for the same day, route and direction of travel as booked.
- Customer no shows for sailing (booking not redeemed): a $25 no-show fee will apply.
- Add passengers: pay for additional passengers – no change fee (dependent on space availability)
- Remove passengers: full refund of removed passengers to original form of payment.
- Remove ≤5 ft.: refund for footage, reservation maintained.
- Remove > 5 ft.: refund for footage, reservation not maintained. Travel based on order of arrival at terminal.
- Add ≤5 ft.: pay for additional feet at standard price – reservation maintained.
- Add > 5 ft.: pay for additional feet at standard price – travel based on order of arrival at terminal.
- Change to a different standard vehicle type: pay any difference in price and travel on next available sailing based on order of arrival at terminal. Reservation lost and cancellation fee applicable.
- Customer arrives at terminal with different vehicle type: reservation is not maintained, cancellation fee applicable and customer travels on order of arrival at terminal.
Cancellation:
Customers may cancel their reservations, outside of seven days prior to the scheduled departure – no fee. Within seven days prior to the departure – $25 cancellation is applicable. If you do not show up for your reservation, a $25 fee will be applied to the deferred payment.
Standard
Northern routes - no livestock permitted
Standard (Commercial Vehicle – No Livestock Permitted) – Northern Routes
The non-authorized resale of a booking/reservation is prohibited unless contracted through BC Ferries.
The following changes are accepted online or by calling the Customer Service Centre up to time sailing is closed for advance sales:
- Change sailing time or cancel reservation: if you cancel or change the sailing time of your commercial reservation within 5 days prior to the scheduled departure, a $200 fee will be applied to your deferred payment.
- Add passengers: pay for additional passengers
- Remove passengers: full refund (to original form of payment) of passenger fares paid for those passengers
- Add feet to vehicle length: if space is available pay for the additional feet
- Remove feet: full refund of feet removed to original form of payment
- Change to a different vehicle type: You will need to cancel your original reservation, and re-book.
Changes accepted at terminal on day of departure:
- Arrived after reservation cut-off (as specified on the booking confirmation document): customers that arrive after the reservation cut off time, but still within sailing time will be subject to be put at the end of the Waitlist.
- Arrived late: subject to space availability, your reservation is no longer honored. Dependent on space, you may still go on the vessel in order of arrival to the terminal.
- Customer no shows for sailing (booking not redeemed): a $200 no-show fee will apply.
- Add passengers: pay for additional passengers – no change fee
- Remove passengers: full refund of removed passengers to original form of payment
- Remove ≤5 ft.: refund the amount you’ve paid for the footage you are removing – reservation maintained
- Remove > 5 ft.: refund the amount of footage that is removed. Travel in order of arrival at the terminal.
- Add ≤5 ft.: reservation maintained, pay for any additional footage.
- Add > 5 ft.: reservation not maintained, pay for additional footage. Dependent on space availability, customer will be placed at the back of the Waitlist.
- Change to a different vehicle type (private vehicle): reservation not maintained, refund of any difference obtained. Travel at order of arrival to the terminal.
Cancellation:
- Customers may cancel their booking at any time, prior to the sailing and receive a full refund less the non-refundable cancellation fee. If cancellation occurs within five days of travel, a $200 fee will be applied to the deferred payment. If fully prepaid, a refund of amount will be applicable less the cancellation fee.
If cancellation occurs outside of five days of travel, no fee is applicable and full refund will be applied.
At terminal
(Drive up to terminal, no reservation - commercial travel - all routes)
Commercial customers may travel on next available sailing based on order of arrival at terminal. Pay appropriate vehicle and passenger fares at the ticket booth. Booking in advance, where available, is always recommended.
Changes accepted at terminal on day of departure:
- Arrived early: groups arriving in time for an earlier sailing, on the date they booked to travel, lose their reservation but may travel on the next available sailing, based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Arrived after reservation cut off (as specified on the booking confirmation document): reservation lost, group will travel on the next available sailing, based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Arrived late: reservation lost, groups who arrive after the sailing has closed for loading, but on the day they booked for travel lose their reservation but may travel on the next available sailing, based on order of arrival at the terminal. Will incur a $25 no-show fee.
- Add or remove ≤5 ft.: reservation maintained.
- Add or remove > 5 ft.: booking will not be honoured, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Attempt to check in without a bus: reservation lost, travel based on order of arrival.
Changing or cancelling your booking:
A $25 fee will be applied to any bus or group booking cancelled or changed within five days of the scheduled departure. A $25 fee will also be applied to any bookings that are not redeemed.
Changes accepted at terminal on day of departure:
- Advance check-in: bus and tour groups are encouraged to check in at the terminal the afternoon or evening prior to a morning departure with photo ID of all passengers to make the loading process more efficient. Boarding passes will be printed for each passenger and given to the bus driver/tour guide to distribute.
- Check-in on day of scheduled departure: if the bus or tour group does not check in on the day prior to travel, the group is required to check in 120 to 150 minutes (2 to 2.5 hours) prior to departure with photo ID of all passengers. Boarding passes will be printed at this time.
- Check-in late on day of scheduled departure: any tour group that has not arrived at the vehicle ticket booth for the check-in process 120 minutes (2 hours) prior to departure will forfeit their reservation and will then travel on a standby basis.
- Add or remove ≤5 ft.: reservation maintained.
- Add or remove > 5 ft.: booking will not be honoured, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Attempt to check in without a bus: booking will not be honoured, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
Changing or cancelling your booking:
A $50 fee will be applied to any bus or group booking changed within 30 days or less prior to your scheduled departure.
A $200 fee will be applied to any bus or group booking cancelled within 30 days or less prior to your scheduled departure.
Changes accepted at terminal on day of departure:
- Advance check-in: bus and tour groups are encouraged to check in at the terminal* the afternoon or evening prior to a morning departure with photo ID of all passengers to make the loading process more efficient. - Check-in late on day of scheduled departure: any tour group that has not arrived at the vehicle ticket booth for the check-in process 90 minutes (1.5 hours) prior to departure will forfeit their reservation and will then travel on a standby basis.

- Add or remove > 5 ft.: booking will not be honoured, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
- Attempt to check in without a bus: booking will not be honoured, travel based on order of arrival at the terminal.
* Groups travelling from Bella Coola must check in at Bella Coola Co-Op
