Due to forecasted high winds for the Strait of Georgia and North Vancouver Island, service on multiple routes have been affected on Wednesday, December 25 and Thursday, December 26, 2024.

The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We are continuing to monitor this weather system and will share information as it becomes available.

BC Ferries’ Customer Service Centre hours for the holiday:

  • December 25 – 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • December 31 – 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

If you have a booking and your sailing is cancelled due to weather, we will automatically refund your fees and/or fares. Click here for more information about bookings on cancelled sailings. Customers can make changes to their existing booking through bcferries.com or the app.

Homalco Tour - Salish Sea Whale Watching

Look for humpback whales, orcas, dolphins and more from the warmth of a heated and covered tour boat on this 4-hour wildlife experience around Campbell River and the Discovery Islands. Learn the cultural history of the area from your expert guide as they show you culturally significant sites in the area.


Tour highlights 

  • Look for humpback whales, orcas and other marine wildlife breaching at a safe distance from your heated and covered boat. 
  • Sail through the spectacular Discovery Islands archipelago and take in the views of grand snowcapped mountains and intricate waterways. 
  • During your tour, keep an eye open for sea lions, otters, bald eagles and other marine birds along the way and enjoy snacks and beverages provided by your tour guide.

 

Activity policies

Activity price includes fuel surcharge, whale conservation and salmon conservation fee. 

Guests must be 4 years or older

Meeting Location: Coast Marina, 1003 B Island Highway, Campbell River, BC

Guests are to arrive at the meeting location 30 minutes prior to departure.

Tour Availability: please note a minimum of six participants is required for the tour to take place. Should there not be enough guests, the tour may be cancelled and a BC Ferries Vacations representative will notify you.

The Salish Sea Whale Watching Tour is available to enjoy from May 1 to October 31.
