Experience the wild side of BC and Alberta with this ten night package touring to eight incredible destinations. This self-drive tour spans across Vancouver Island, the rugged central coast of Bella Coola, the Okanagan, into the Rocky Mountains, before concluding in the largest city in Alberta, Calgary.

While in Bella Coola, watch grizzly bears and keep your eyes peeled for a rare glimpse of the Kermode (spirit) bear, or enjoy a guided eco-rafting tour. As your journey continues, make your way through the Wine Capital of Canada (Okanagan) into the stunning wilderness of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Finish your trip in the cosmopolitan city of Calgary.

Suggested itinerary

DAY 1

Metro Vancouver to Vancouver Island

Your road trip begins as you board a sailing to Nanaimo. Once you have arrived on the Island, stop at the historic Old Country Market in Coombs – famous for the goats that graze on the roof – before continuing onto Courtenay for the night.

DAY 2

Courtenay to Port Hardy

Explore downtown Courtenay in the morning and grab a delicious breakfast before continuing along Northern Vancouver Island to your next destination of Port Hardy. On the way, stretch your legs on a small hike or visit the seaside community of Telegraph Cove.

DAY 3

Port Hardy to Bella Coola

Depart from Port Hardy, and sail through stunning West Coast landscapes, keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way. Once you have arrived in Bella Coola, check into your accommodation for the evening.

DAY 4

Bella Coola

Depending on the season, join a thrilling river wildlife tour (Jun 15 - Aug 14),  or a grizzly bear tour (Aug 15 - Oct 15) to observe some of Bella Coola's majestic animals in their natural habitat.

DAY 5

Bella Coola to Williams Lake

After a final morning in Bella Coola, continue your journey along Highway 20 to Williams Lake, where you can experience the city’s rural charm, and learn about its ranching culture and gold rush history.

DAY 6

Williams Lake to Kamloops

Before departing Williams Lake, take a short detour to stroll through Williams Lake River Valley Trail before continuing on your three hour journey to Kamloops. After checking into your Kamloops hotel, head to a local trail or head out for a bite to eat.

DAY 7

Kamloops to Golden

Before departing Kamloops, make a stop at Kamloops Art Gallery to see the largest public art gallery in the Interior of British Columbia with over 3,100 works of local art. On your way to Golden, stop at the charming town of Revelstoke for a lunch stop, or to try the thrilling Pipe Mountain Coaster!

DAY 8

Golden to Banff

Take your time in the morning to explore Golden before heading towards Banff. Take an adventurous excursion across the Golden Skywalk, a 426 feet suspension bridge or walk along one of their many walking trails. Or, visit the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre to learn about wolves in the wild and conservation.

DAY 9

Banff

Spend the day surrounded by breathtaking scenery everywhere you go. Take a gondola ride to new heights, or hit the trail and walk to one of the many famous turquoise lakes.

DAY 10

Banff to Calgary

Take your time before leaving Banff, making stops at Kananaskis Lakes, Fort Normadeau, and the Rocky Mountain Museum, before heading out a short under 1 hour 30 minute drive to the bustling city of Calgary.

DAY 11

Calgary

Spend your final day in Calgary, before returning home to Vancouver at your leisure or extending your trip further into Alberta.
